I took the Easter long weekend off social media to unplug, recharge, and soak up some quality time with family, and it was exactly what I needed. Slowing down for a few days gave me the perfect chance to dive into Riding the High by Paisley Hope, and what a treat it was!

This story blends some of the best romance tropes, single dad, accidental marriage, best friend’s brother, friends to lovers, and forced proximity, and it works. Cole, the small town sheriff, and Ginger have such a natural, heartfelt connection. Their relationship is built on trust, open communication, banter, and those everyday moments every couple shares that made their bond feel so real.

The banter was great, the chemistry was undeniable, and Ginger’s sweet connection with Mabel totally melted me. There’s plenty of spice, and the emotional moments hit just right. Even with a few slower parts, this one ended up being a standout in the series for me.

If you’ve read these, I know you felt the pain. What’s the last book that absolutely destroyed you?

Fourth Wing had me in a chokehold from the first p

Fourth Wing had me in a chokehold from the first page. The dragons, the tension, the sheer ✨magic✨ of it all? Absolute perfection. It was everything I wanted, great chemistry, high stakes, and completely unputdownable. I inhaled it.

Then came Iron Flame, and… it was fine. The plot dragged in the first half, but once it picked up, I was back in. The tension? Was great. Violet? An even bigger badass. And Xaden? Still the ultimate book boyfriend. But something about it just didn’t hit quite like Fourth Wing did.

And then we got Onyx Storm, which, to be honest, felt like a filler episode in book form. It dragged, didn’t add much new, and honestly, I think this series probably should’ve wrapped up as a trilogy. Still, I love this world, and I’m too deep in now to stop.

⭐ Fourth Wing – 5/5
⭐ Iron Flame – 3.5/5
⭐ Onyx Storm – 3/5

I loved the first book so much, so I was super exc

I loved the first book so much, so I was super excited to jump into The Ashes and the Star Cursed King, and it definitely didn’t let me down! The characters are still amazing, and I was instantly hooked all over again. I especially loved Raihn’s character development. The moment he apologized and took responsibility? Honestly, I wasn’t expecting that, and it was so refreshing to see.

The dual POV was such a great choice! Getting into both Oraya and Raihn’s heads was so fun, and their chemistry? Off the charts. The tension between them was electric, and I couldn’t get enough of their scenes together.

The only reason I’m giving it 4/5 and not 5/5 is that in the beginning, I felt like Oraya’s internal struggles were kind of repetitive. Like, I get it, she’s going through a lot, but it did feel a little dragged out at times ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
